Gymnema

Gymnema (Gymnema sylvestre) is a perennial woody vine native to Asia, Africa and Australia. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine to lower blood glucose. A useful part of the plant is its leaves.
Today, it is the main herb consumed by those suffering from diabetes, always in combination with the medication prescribed by the doctor. The active ingredients of the herb (gymnemic acids) help to effectively balance the level of sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood.
The daily dose is 1-2 teaspoons of the dried herb in a mug of boiled water (3 times a day).
Simultaneous intake with antidiabetic drugs (insulin) should only be done under medical supervision, as there is a risk of hypoglycemia.
