Lemon Verbena

Lemon Verbena of the Verbenaceae family of the Aloysia genus, is a perennial deciduous shrub with a height of 1 to 2-2.5 meters and a strong lemon smell. It comes from South America, specifically Chile, from where the Spanish brought it to Europe in the 17th century.
It contains essential oils, citric elements (citral, citronellal, citronellic acid, citrolnellol), saponins and tannins. The whole plant is useful.
It has antispasmodic properties and facilitates digestion, soothing the stomach, relaxing the gastrointestinal tract and allowing the digestive system to function normally. It can also help relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, indigestion and bloating.
In recent years it is often used for its mild diuretic properties, in herbal diet products. To make a drink, add 1-2 teaspoons to a mug of boiling water and leave covered for ten minutes.
