Sage

Sage (Salvia fruticosa), is a perennial herb or subshrub native to the eastern Mediterranean, including southern Italy, the Canary Islands and North Africa. It has been used for its healing properties since ancient times to treat wounds, treat snake bites, increase female fertility, etc.

Today Sage is used as a general tonic for the body, as it stimulates digestion helping in cases of stomach weakness, but also for stimulating the nervous system, as it has a positive effect in cases of nervous disorders, melancholy or depression. It is also considered particularly useful in dealing with profuse sweating and hot flashes of menopause and is an excellent ingredient for mouth washes in cases of gingivitis.

Sage should not be consumed for long periods of time and by hypertensive people.
