Damiana (Turnera Diffusa), is a relatively small woody shrub rich in aromatic compounds with small fragrant flowers that thrives in Central and South America, Mexico and the Caribbean. It has a long history as a medicinal plant and has traditionally been used as a body and libido tonic.
Today, Damiana is widely used as a tonic for the body and to stimulate the nervous system, in cases of disorders, anxiety, nervousness and mild depression, offering a general euphoria and well-being to the body. As an aphrodisiac, it is considered to treat erectile dysfunction and to increase sexual drive in both sexes. However, to date, official clinical research proving the plant's aphrodisiac effect has only been done on experimental animals.
To prepare a decoction, add a teaspoon of dried leaves to a cup of boiling water and let the herb work for 5-10 minutes. Damiana is generally considered safe to use and is usually combined with other herbs.
Herbs are and should be treated as medicines. We recommend that you always consult your doctor before using them.
