Fenugreek (Trigonella Foenum - Graec), is an annual plant of the Fabaceae family. It is grown worldwide as a semi-arid crop and its seeds are a popular ingredient in Indian cuisine.
Fenugreek seeds significantly lower blood cholesterol levels and improve heart health. Also, the use of fenugreek has been shown to increase testosterone levels in men and breast milk production in lactating women, especially in the days immediately after childbirth. In addition, the ground seeds when added to a drink have a laxative effect, lubricate the intestine and contribute positively to problems of constipation and stomach disorders. Finally, the seeds of the plant are an ideal decoction for patients, as they significantly increase appetite, helping in the recovery stage.
To prepare a drink, boil 10g of seeds in a glass of water for 10 minutes. Strain and drink 3 times a day between meals.
