Guarana

Guarana (Paullinia Cupana) is a climbing plant of the Sapindaceae family, native to the Amazon basin and particularly common in Brazil, but now cultivated worldwide for its popular medicinal fruits. The bioactive chemicals in the plant's fruits, including the stimulants caffeine, theophylline, and theobromine, exert antioxidant and stimulant properties on the body, reducing fatigue, boosting energy, and aiding learning and memory. Guarana fruits today are mainly used to treat nervous exhaustion and depression, to enhance sports and learning performance, to reduce mental and physical fatigue, relieve headaches and as a supplement for weight loss. Guarana consumption is not recommended for prolonged periods of time and especially by people who show reactions to caffeine.
