Eyebright

Eyebright (Euphrasia Officinalis) is a herbaceous flowering plant of the Orobanchaceae family, with a cosmopolitan distribution. The common name Eyebright refers to the plant's use to treat eye infections. Useful in botany are all parts of the plant (stem, leaves, flowers).

Today Eyebright is mainly used externally for redness, swelling and visual disturbances caused by blepharitis and conjunctivitis. It is also used for eye strain and to relieve inflammation caused by colds, coughs, nasal infections, sore throats and hay fever.

The internal use of the herb in the form of a drink is considered to effectively relieve runny nose, sinusitis and congestive conditions of the respiratory system. In addition, it can also be used as a mouthwash for inflammations and infections of the oral cavity.
