The oil is extracted from the seeds of the fruit of a perennial shrub with the scientific name Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba), native to Arizona, southern California and northwestern Mexico. The paste derived from the fruit has been awarded for many years by the American organization Native Americans for its amazing results on the skin and hair.

Smooth and round in shape, Jojoba beads penetrate deep into the pores, offering effective exfoliation and improving circulation. Jojoba mimics the structure and consistency of sebum, the natural oil secreted by the sebaceous gland in the skin, whose function is to lubricate and seal the skin and hair. It mobilizes the sebaceous gland to reduce sebum secretion, thus limiting oiliness and consequently the problems it causes, eg acne.
