As a cosmetic ingredient, soy lecithin is used as a homogenizer (emulsifier, thickener, stabilizer) and as a mild preservative. However, its main effect is the hydration it provides to the skin. Some of the components of lecithin (phospholipids) have the ability to trap moisture in the air, as a result of which the moisturizing effect of cosmetics is significantly enhanced. You will find lecithin as an ingredient in skin rebuilding products and in cosmetics aimed at damaged, tired and dull skin. One of the properties of lecithin is to penetrate deep into the skin. Thus, if a cosmetic has been enriched with other nutrients (e.g. vitamins), lecithin acts as a carrier that transports them to the cells and tissues. Soy Lecithin can be used as an ingredient in moisturizing products, shampoos and conditioners, lip balms, body washes and many more cosmetics. The dosage is not specific, as it depends on the type of cosmetic and the reason for using the lecithin itself. A general rule is to use 1-2 teaspoons per 500 grams of cream.
