Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is a short-lived aromatic herbaceous perennial in the Asteraceae family, with flowers that may appear year-round where conditions are right.

In modern herbal medicine, Calendula is used internally (drink) to treat ulcers, nausea and painful menstruation and externally (compress) to treat wounds, burns, irritations and insect bites.

When consumed internally it acts as a digestive and is considered an excellent herb for ulcers, gastritis and infections of the gastrointestinal tract. It also has antispasmodic properties and is effective against period pains and cramps.

When used on the skin, it offers excellent healing, antiseptic and antibacterial action. It is often recommended for the treatment of acne, phlebitis, eczema and irritations.

Herbs are and should be treated as medicines. We recommend that you always consult your doctor before using them.
