Cumin essential oil has a penetrating, spicy and sensual characteristic spice aroma. In aromatherapy it is used as warming and relaxing, to relieve muscle pains and rheumatism and as a stimulant of the nervous system. It relieves headaches and contributes positively to the treatment of the common cold. Its use on the skin contributes beneficially to the treatment of cellulite, but it is never used undiluted directly on the skin. It is also phototoxic and should not be used before sun exposure.
On a psychological level, the aroma of Cumin stimulates the nervous system, increases body temperature and enhances the mood for sex. It combines very well with all the oils of the spice, wood and citrus family.
"Cumin is the common name of the Cumin plant (Cuminum Cyminum) and is a flowering plant of the Apiaceae family, native from the eastern Mediterranean to India, while it is now cultivated in China and Mexico. Cumin has been used since ancient times. The seeds of the plant add flavor to the cuisines of many different cultures, but it is also used for medicinal purposes as a digestive, to increase iron in the blood and to reduce the symptoms of the common cold."
