Dog Rose (Rosa canina), is a variable climbing species of wild rose, family Rosaceae, native to Europe, northwest Africa and western Asia.
Dog Rose are rich in vitamin C, antioxidants and are a valuable source of polyphenols. The herb effectively treats and reduces inflammation and has been linked to many benefits, including improved immunity, heart health, weight loss and anti-aging skin. It is also thought to improve insulin sensitivity.
When consumed in a drink it is useful as a general booster of the body's defenses and helps to treat colds, flu, diarrhea and gastritis.
There are not enough studies on the safe use of the herb. It is claimed that frequent and prolonged use may increase the risk of kidney stones or venous thrombosis. It is contraindicated for consumption by people with thrombophlebitis or a predisposition to it.
Herbs are and should be treated as medicines. We recommend that you always consult your doctor before using them.
