Echinacea (Echinacea Purpurea - Coneflower) is a perennial, herbaceous species of flowering plant identified by its purple cone-shaped flowers and native to North America. In traditional Native American medicine, the plant was used externally for wounds, burns and insect bites, and chewing the root for toothache, sore throat, etc. Today the use of Echinacea is particularly widespread and is used to strengthen the immune system, as clinical research has shown that its use increases the number of white blood cells in the blood. Recent evidence shows that the polysaccharides contained in the plant are largely responsible for activating the immune system. Polysaccharides occur in high concentration in the aerial parts of the plant and not in the root which is traditionally used in various preparations. Echinacea should not be consumed preventively and for long periods of time, as the continuous overstimulation of the immune system can lead to exhaustion. It is recommended to be consumed from the moment the first symptoms of flu or cold appear and for 48 hours after they have completely subsided. To prepare a drink, use a teaspoon of the dried herb in a mug of boiled water, 3 times a day between meals.

Herbs are and should be treated as medicines. We recommend that you always consult your doctor before using them.
