Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil has a mild and sweet lemon scent and is often used in perfumery but is particularly known for its use as an insect repellent. It is often used to relieve symptoms such as runny nose, cough and fever, while it helps effectively in cases of colds, flu, bronchitis and sinusitis. It can also be added to a massage base oil to help restore poor blood circulation as well as relieve muscle aches and arthritis. On a psychological level, it promotes emotional clarity and the willingness to change in various areas of life. It combines well with Lemon, Frankincense, Citronella, Cedarwood, Lavender and Tea Tree.
Eucalyptus Citriodora, commonly known as Lemon-scented Eucalyptus, is a species of tall tree in the family Myrtaceae, endemic to northeastern Australia. It was first formally described in 1848 by William Jackson Hooker who gave it the name Eucalyptus Citriodora. Eucalyptus essential oil with a lemon scent, consists mainly of citronella (80%) and is largely produced in Brazil and China. Unrefined oil from the tree is used in perfumery, while a refined form is used in insect repellent products, especially against mosquitoes.
