Oregano Wild

The wild oregano of the island of Ikaria (scientific name origanum onites) or otherwise island oregano is found only in some Aegean islands and in some regions of Turkey. It is a perennial shrub, which, in May, its flowering season, is full of long green leafy stems ending in flat white flowers, the smell of which, when the sickle is passed over them, is particularly strong, almost intoxicating ! A highly aromatic, medicinal and aromatic plant, extremely loved by bees, it yields less compared to the common species origanum vulgare hirtum, however, its locality and distinct fragrance make it an excellent choice for distillation. The results of many studies highlight wild oregano oil as a natural antibiotic, a real cure for many health problems, such as respiratory viruses and germs, flu, pneumonia, sinusitis, as well as intestinal and digestive dysfunctions. In addition, it effectively treats various fungi, such as staphylococcus and streptococcus, as well as allergies, eczema, psoriasis, etc., while another important use is the fight against chronic rheumatism. Finally, it is considered that its antioxidant activity is 42 times stronger than that of apples, 30 times stronger than that of potatoes and 12 times stronger than that of oranges.
